BURDICK EXCAVATING CO INC, located in Carson City, NV, is seeking an estimator/project manager for public works civil projects within the Lake Tahoe basin, El Dorado National Forest, as well as Reno and Carson City.

Our forte for the 38 years in business, is environmentally sensitive projects, including stream restorations, campgrounds, downtown renovations, parks,  infrastructure and sophisticated drainage systems. We are drawn to the more challenging and complex projects in rural areas.

The sizes of the jobs we bid and perform, are from $200,000 to $40,000,000, the majority of which are in the $1,000,000 to $10,000,000 range. We self- perform most of the elements of the public works jobs, with the exception of highway paving and electrical. The projects that are out of driving distance, we set up a fully operational office, and all admin personnel work on the jobsite.

Our needs for an estimator include:

  1. Knowledge and experience utilizing HCSS, with a minimum of 3 years in the industry
  2. Review, evaluate and follow up on project leads on the several websites we subscribe to
  3. Perform takeoffs, including earthwork, utilities, drainage and specialty furniture, use of CAD
  4. Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotes
  5. Complete project cost estimates via HCSS
  6. Generate subcontracts, purchase orders, and follow up and schedule subs and deliveries
  7. Prepare construction schedules, RFIs, traffic control plans, submittals, pay estimates

Carson City is located in Nevada, and there is no personal  or corporate income tax. Housing is affordable, Lake Tahoe is magnificent, and we are a well-reputed contractor in the industry. Our employees take pride in their work , and most have been with us over 15 years.
